Dave Rowe Painter & Decorator’s Roof Painting Process

Painting your roof can be a daunting task, there can be significant differences in the age and condition of your roof.
Flaking & rusty roofs need to be well prepared before any topcoats are applied.
When choosing a colour keep in mind some colours can be more subject to fading. Light colours will show up defects in roofs.
Here’s a basic outline of the steps we take when roof painting to make sure that your paint job is one we can both be proud of.
This is a general outline; your actual procedure may differ slightly depending on the situation or conditions.

Roof Preparation

  • We begin by water blasting all the surfaces to be painted. This removes any dirt, mildew, algae, and so on from the surfaces. We use a water / bleach solution that’s mild enough to prevent hurting your shrubs, plants or trees, but strong enough to kill any mould or mildew.
  • We scrape any necessary areas.
  • We treat rust where necessary.
  • We can re nail or re screw as needed.

Roof Painting

  • We spot prime or fully prime any bare areas where necessary.
  • We apply 2 coats of top coat.

Clean Up

  • Upon completion of the roof painting project, we clean the property; we make sure no scrapings or debris is left lying around the grounds.

We consider this one of the most important parts of the job, we will inspect the job and make sure it is to the highest standard.
